AMISOM Police Deployed in Dhusamareb & Barawe

Police from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have today been deployed in Dhusamareb, Galgadud region and Barawe district, the official headquarters of the South West Administration.
The troops, who were previously trained in Mogadishu, will take part in securing the areas where the upcoming parliamentary elections will begin.
Members of the Federal Electoral Commission (FIET) have recently arrived in Barawe to conduct a security inspection of the venue for the upcoming parliamentary elections, and the committee said that Barawe will be the first venue for the by-elections.
Meanwhile, AMISOM police forces have been deployed in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug, as part of securing the upcoming parliamentary elections.
About 250 Ethiopian troops are also expected to arrive in Dhusamareb in the coming days to bolster the Djiboutian contingent.
The Somali government and regional governments are currently making final preparations for the elections of the lower house of parliament.
