Banadir police appoints new commander

The Commander of the Somali Police Forces, General Abdi Hassan Mohamed (Hijaar) today appointed new Commander of Banadir region, after a recent order issued by the police chief.
Hijar has appointed Lieutenant Colonel Mahdi Omar Mu’min alias (Macalin Mahdi) to the new position, and will replace the recently killed commander Farhan Qaroole.
The announcement instructed the new commander to carry out the duties assigned to him, while also ordering other police officials to cooperate with him.
Muumin, who hails Galmudug, had been rumoured for the poisition in recent days with a strong lobbying from Galmudug State leader and other officials.
Mahdi Omar Muumin had already became the commander of security in Galmudug, having worked in Dhusamareb and other areas.
Farhan Qaroole, the young popular Police Chief of Banadir, was killed last month in an explosion, in Basra, Middle Shabelle, where he went on an operation against Al-Shabaab, and with his death widely felt in Mogadishu and throughout the country.
