The closing ceremony of the National Electoral Consultative Council meeting is underway at the Air Force base in Mogadishu, which is expected to issue a communiqué on a joint agreement between government officials and regional administrations.

However, the ceremony, which was scheduled to begin at 9 am, was delayed after Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi refused to attend.

The most difficult part of the deal was that of the Somaliland regional election commission, as there was no one to represent them in the talks, but sources close to the prime minister’s office confirmed that Prime Minister Roble had promised to review this issue.
President Farmajo, Prime Minister Roble, the speaker of parliament, all heads of regional administrations and the governor of Benadir region are scheduled to address the closing ceremony.

Former Somali presidents Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the candidates’ union are also on the list.
