Deadly accident in Hargeisa, Somaliland: five killed including young child

Five people have been confirmed dead and eight others injured in a car accident late last night in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland.

The accident occurred when two vehicles had collided with each other at the Western checkpoint in Hargeisa.

A Somaliland police official who went to the scene of the accident said that the dead included three women, a child and the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident.

He also said that they have come to the rescue of those injured in the accident, and called on motorists to be careful while driving on the roads of Somaliland.

Hargeysa, capital in the semi-autonomous region of Somaliland, has been the scene of frequent car accidents, with most residents claiming responsibility lies with poor driving skills.
