Dispute resolution committee issues decision on Mahdi Guled’s seat

The Electoral Dispute Resolution Committee has issued an official ruling on the case of Somalia’s newly elected Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled Khadar as parliamentary.

The committee said that the seat won by the Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled has been processed in the right way and is valid.

The commission said it had carried out a lengthy investigation into the case filed by MP Hussein Arab Isse, who was occupying the seat, and that there was nothing wrong with the election process.

A statement from the commission said:

The Electoral Dispute Resolution Committee for 2020/2021, in accordance with Articles 1, 2 and 4 of the responsibilities and duties of the IEC, was established on October 1, 2020, based on the agreement of the traditional elders and the declaration of the committee. submitted and decided:

1. That the HOP # 239 Number Election Management System is correct and in accordance with the Indirect Elections for 2020/2021, and therefore informs the Federal Election Implementation Committee that they are allowed from today, on 08/11/2021, in Announcing the Official Result of the Seat HOPH239.

The move comes after committee members filed a complaint by Hussein Arab Isse, who has been in office for the past four years, with the decision finally decided today.
