The Somali Police Force’s General Kahiye Training School is set to hold elections on Monday for two of the first seats in the lower house of parliament, which will be held for the northern regions of Somaliland.
Members of the Northern Regions Electoral Commission have registered four candidates for the two seats, with the two most prominent candidates being Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled and Bihi Iman Egeh, who has been running for parliament for the past four years.
Ahmed Safina, a spokesman for the Northern Electoral Commission, said the two seats would be voted for by 101 selected delegates, who were trained in Mogadishu yesterday.
In the coming weeks, elections are expected to be held in Mogadishu for the Northern and Benadir regions so that other administrations in the country can also begin to start the elections.
