Electoral Commission of Somalia; ‘Parliamentary elections to resume next week in regional states’

The chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission Mohamed Hassan Irro has announced that parliamentary elections will officially begin next week in the country’s Federal states.
Speaking to the media, Irro said that the preparations for the parliamentary elections have been completed and the elections have already began in Mogadishu and will continue the next week in the constituencies of the regional administrations in the country.
Irro added that the districts of the regional administrations scheduled to hold the elections will transport complete election materials, such as ballot papers, ballot boxes and other important items.
The Chairman of the Electoral Commission indicated that they are optimistic that the elections to the House of the People will be completed soon, as preparations for the elections at the Federal and Administrative levels have been completed.
“Our election process has been dragging on for a long while, the prospects are good now, and we have promised the Heads of Administrations and Electoral Commissions that the Parliamentary elections will take place as soon as possible,” said chairman Mohamed Hassan Irro.
Mahdi Mohamed Guled Khadar has been elected as the first member of parliament from the northern region of Somaliland, although the electoral dispute committee had stated earleir this week that they have recieved a case against the seat, while Bihi Iman Egeh has been elected as member of parliament from the northern region of Somaliland.
