Ethiopia: Dead body of International Election Observer found in Addis Hotel

John Marsh was part of the International Observers covering Ethiopia's elections

Reports from Ethiopia say that the body of a foreign man has been found dead in Radisson Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa.

The deceased man, named John Marsh from the United States was part of the electoral observers in the national general elections taking place in Ethiopia.

Addis Ababa police said they were investigating the case, although no injuries were seen, according to Fasika Fanta, a police spokeswoman.

The US embassy in Addis Ababa is also investigating his death according to local sources.

A few moments ago, the Carter Center sent a tweet extending its sympathies to the family of John Marsh.

The death of John Marsh could be a scandal for the Abiy Ahmed-led government in which the government promised to hold the anticipated elections in a peaceful, free and fair environment.
