Explosion in Mogadishu; more details emerge

Two civilians have been confirmed dead and another injured in a explosion in Mogadishu.

The blast was reported to have taken place on the road between Mogadishu and Afgoye, in Garasbaale area.

Reports say the blast killed at least two civilians and injured another when a landmine hit their motorcycle.

The victims were from Afgoye district, and included a well-known teacher there.

The bomber struck shortly after a government convoy had passed by according to local witnesses.

Security forces arrived at the scene, conducting a brief operation on the road where the blast took place.

There is no word yet from the security agencies of the federal government of Somalia about the explosion that took place in Garasbaaleey area, in which most of such explosions are claimed by Al-Shabaab.
