Explosion in Uganda capital kills at least two

Two separate bomb blasts in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, have killed at least two people and injured dozens more, officials say.

The powerful blasts shook parts of the city, and also caused fires at the scene of the blasts & nearby vehicles.

The first blast targeted a shopping mall near the police station, while the second took place on a road near the Ugandan parliament building.

The blasts killed at least two people and injured dozens more, and police say they are investigating.

Troops also closed the area where the blasts took place, to ensure the general condition of the area.

The situation remains tense, and the government is now busy rescuing the victims.

Last month, Islamic State made its first claim of responsibility for a blast in Uganda.

That bomb – packed with shrapnel – killed a waitress at a restaurant.
