Farmaajo sworn as member of Parliament

The meeting of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia opened today at the House of Representatives in Mogadishu, chaired by the Speaker of the People’s Assembly Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobe).
The agenda of the meeting was the swearing in of the Honorary Member of the People’s Assembly that of former President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
The Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), who opened the meeting, said that 11 members of the People’s Assembly submitted a motion against the swearing in of former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, and that it shall be discussed.
MP Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame who spoke at the meeting said that he is one of the members of the People’s Assembly who submitted the motion, and he said that former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo was responsible for the attack on his house in December 2017 in which many soldiers were killed.
He said that the other officials who were part of the attack on his residence have asked for forgiveness, but Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who was key authority responsible, has not yet spoken.
The Speaker of the People’s Assembly then suggested that a vote be taken on the motion brought by the MPs to remove the agenda from today’s swearing-in, and the majority of the MPs voted that the agenda should not be changed, and that former president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo should be sworn in, where a vote was taken for him to take the oath.
The former President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, was sworn in as an Honorary Member of Parliament today in front of the House of People, and he will be the second president to be sworn in as an Honorary Member of Parliament.
