Farmajo and Muse Bihi talk on the phone

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has telephoned Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi to discuss last night’s fire at Waheen market in Hargeisa, according to a statement from Villa Somalia.

The market was badly burned by the fire which destroyed most of it where hundreds of millions of dollars were lost, although the exact extent of the damage has not yet been determined.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo telephoned Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi to discuss the property damage caused by the fire at Waheen Market in Hargeisa.

The President of the Republic shared with his brother President Muse Bihi Abdi our grief and concern over the plight of Somali business people and the city of Hargeisa, expressing the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to assist business people who have lost their livelihoods in this tragedy.

“We stand with the business community and the entire Somaliland community for their support and prayers, and I call on the Somali people everywhere to mobilize and lend a hand to their brothers and sisters.”

For his part, President Muse Bihi Abdi thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia for his commitment to support the traders who lost their property in last night’s fire in Hargeisa market.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo prayed for a better future for the traders affected by the disaster.
