Federal Electoral Commission elects new official chairman

The election of the new chairman of Somalia’s Indirect Electoral Commission has officially ended in Mogadishu today.

Mohamed Hassan Irro has been appointed as the new chairman of Somalia’s Indirect Electoral Commission.

The elected chairman won the second round with 14 votes, while his rival Liban Mohamed Hassan received 10 votes.

The winner of the election, Mohamed Hassan Irro, was previously the chairman of the country’s disputed election commission, and will be directly involved in the country’s elections in the coming days.
