Ahlu Sunna forces have taken control of Afcaag, Dhagaxya-weyn and Jiif Harare areas in Galgadud region without any fighting, with Al-Shabaab fighters having reportedly left the area.

Ahlu Sunna officials who are leading the operation said that the resistance will continue and they are targeting new areas, and the forces are working with militia men from the areas that were taken over today.

Ahlu Sunna forces recaptured the town of Guri El in Galgadud region last Friday after Galmudug forces withdrew from the town.

Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a (ASWJ) forces have also taken control of Eldhere village between Guri El and Dhusamareb towns, and tensions between Ahlu Sunna and Galmudug have resumed in the region.

However, no formal solution has yet been reached to the conflict between the two sides, and various efforts are underway to resolve the crisis between Ahlu Sunna and Galmudug State adminitration, with efforts by lawmakers and other members.
