Garasbaaleey district commissioner killed in blast

Garasbaley district commissioner of Mogadishu has died this afternoon from serious injuries sustained in a car bomb blast.

Mohamed Abukar Afrah was traveling in the Foorilow section between Kahda district and Garasbaaleey area when the explosion hit, residents told media.

The death of the Garasbaley district commissioner has been confirmed by local authorities, and it appears that there were other injuries as a result of the blast that targeted the commissioner’s car.

The commissioner was appointment recently on May 30, when he replaced the former commissioner of the region, Abdirahman Garyare, who was also killed in an explosion along with two of his bodyguards who were traveling with him on May 21, 2021.
