Hassan Sheikh: “Farmajo is an obstacle to the election”

Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Union of Candidates addressed a statement today to outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.

Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Union of Candidates, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that the biggest obstacle to holding elections in the country is the outgoing President Farmajo.

Hassan Sheikh said last night’s statement by Farmajo was insane and ridiculous, and took the patience of the Somali people for granted.

“The obstacle to the election that had initially refused to start and refused to continue is the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, and last night’s statement is that far, we reject it as it is not in Somalia’s interest, what he announced is crazy, not wise and irresponsible, ”he said.

Hassan Sheikh said he had previously warned the Somali people to consider and be careful to who they hand over power to.

“It is not right for politicians and the Somali people to be taken for granted. Farmajo has taken the wisdom of the people for granted. I have already warned the Somali people to think about who they hand over power to,” he added.

Meanwhile, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that yesterday’s speech by the former Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Mursal follows the previous one in which he threatened the country, calling on Mursal not to share again what happened on previous attempt by Farmajo for an extension that had went horribly wrong and backfired on both Farmaajo and former speaker Mohamed Mursal, who is sad to be the engineer behind it.

“There are those calling for the old parliament to return which is impossible and has no legitimacy” the former president added.

Hassan Sheikh also spoke about the promotion of President Farmajo by the Benadir Regional Police Commander, and made it clear that an officer cannot be ordered to do “whatever he wants”.
