A convoy of vehicles carrying former Somali president and presidential candidate Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been shot at near the Benadir regional court in Mogadishu.

Reports say there were no casualties as a result of the shots fired at former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s convoy.

The sources added that the shots fired at President Hassan Sheikh did not cause any casualties, after the president ordered his bodyguards to exercise restraint and not to respond to the shots fired at them by government forces guarding the checkpoint outside Benadir Regional Court.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was on his way from a peace conference at the Elite Hotel in Lido Beach to attend a meeting with the Union of Candidates when government forces opened fire on his convoy.

There was no immediate word from security officials on the incident.
