Hiiraan administration announces arrests over murdered official

A spokesman for Hiiran regional authority, Abdi Mumin Elmi, has spoken into more details from the operations of the security forces of Beledweyne, after the killing of the regional Youth Chairman Mr. Farah diir Abdi, who was shot and killed by armed men who then fled and escaped.
Mumin announced that a number of suspects have been arrested in connection with the assassination of the former chairman of the Hiran regional youth association. He also pointed out that those arrested are currently under further investigation and were being detained at Beledweyne police station.
Farah Diir was laid to rest in Beledweyne today with his funeral attended by various officials and hundreds of people.
The assassination comes after a series of insecurity incidents in recent days in Beledweyne, the regional capital of Hiran region.
Beledweyne is also one of the hottest seats for the national parliamentarian elections scheduled to take place in the country this year, with strong concerns over the safety of the current general situation in the region.
