US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has called on outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to leave the Somali presidential palace and not cause any more trouble to the Somali people.
U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar has urged former President Farmajo to step aside as soon as possible.
Ilhaan, a Somali-American, is a member of the ruling Democratic Party and a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
“Farmajo is one year away from his term. It is time for him to step away, so that the long-awaited elections can move forward, as soon as possible, ”said MP Ilhan Omar in a tweet.
Ilhaan’s remarks came as the United States announced last night that it would take action against those who pose a threat to peace in Somalia, and the United States has strongly opposed the former president’s alleged dismissal of Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
“The United States stands ready to take action against those who obstruct the peace process in Somalia,” the State Department said in a statement.
“The coup attempt on Prime Minister Roble is a worrying one and we support his efforts for a credible and credible election. All parties must refrain from any actions or actions that could worsen the situation, “the statement said.
The United States has also said that the National Consultative Assembly meeting is urgently needed to expedite the electoral process.
It is the latest statement by the United States on the political situation in Somalia, and its direct support for one of the warring parties.
