Lower Shabelle: More than 20 people dead of acute watery diarrhea

In the last few hours, there has been an increase in the number of deaths and cases of acute watery diarrhea in areas under Walanweyn district in Lower Shabelle region.
Reports indicate that the disease is currently prevalent in the villages of Tabeelaha, Aqal Gubay, Bulo Jiffi, Kukaadi, Mooro Barey, Xawaal Filey and others near Walanweyn district.
Witnesses also said that the spread of the disease was caused by the lack of access to health facilities and that people in the house were infected.
Some villages affected by the Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) are also experiencing severe water shortages, and residents have called for immediate access to water and medicine.
A few days ago, Wanlaweyn District Commissioner Ismail Sheikh Abukar Mohamed sent a distress call to the South West Administration and aid agencies to address the outbreak of Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) and Drought.
