Man who killed student Hibo Qasim arrested

The Somali police have arrested the man who killed Hibo Qasim, a student, last night in the Eleysha Biyaha area on the outskirts of Mogadishu.
Hibo yesterday celebrated the result of her secondary school examination and passed it but hours later, her life was ended when a bandit robbed her mobile and then stabbed her near her residence in Eelasha Biyaha area.
The police released the video of a man named Jeilani who admitted that he killed the girl and wanted to steal her mobile phone.
“It was around 5:00pm in the afternoon. We met the girl on the road and she was talking on her mobile. I tried to take it from her by force but then she stuck with me, in which I then stabbed her twice in the back. “Jeylani said in a brief interview.
The Police forces said that they arrested the man after an operation that lasted for several hours, after recieving a tip off from the people of the area.
The killing of Hibo has captured the attention of Somalis in social media over the past 24 hours, with many people reacting angrily to the manner of her death.
Crime has been high in Mogadishu lately with several reported incidents of killings involving bandits who rob citizens of their property.
