Mogadishu: Explosion targets Banadir intersection

A powerful explosion has taken place today near the Banadir intersection in Mogadishu, witnesses confirmed to MTVSomali.com.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a convoy of African Union peacekeepers in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

Witnesses confirmed to MTVSomali.com that there were casualties including deaths and injuries, with three people confirmed dead, and many more injured.

One of the AMISOM vehicles was severely damaged in the blast, and the injured were taken to some hospitals in Mogadishu.

The blast came hours after another blast on Ceelqalow Road on the Dan-Wadaagaha and Sobe intersections as a landmine blast targeted local government forces near Ceelqalaw in Wadajir district.

Security forces arrived at the scene of the blast, and ambulances rushed to evacuate the injured.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts, but al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for most of them.
