Mogadishu: More details emerge of a sucide attack at an army camp

More details are coming out of an suicide bomb explosion this evening in a military camp in Mogadishu.

The base hosts units of the national army who are being trained there.

Members of the security forces said that the explosion occurred at the entrance to the camp where there were young cadets who were lined up to join the army, while other reports we received from the security forces said that the explosion occurred inside the base.

The explosion resulted in death and injuries, and some of the injured were taken to hospitals in Mogadishu.

At least 10 people have been confirmed dead in the explosion, and there are various reports that there are many injuries.

The camp, formerly known as the Nac nac camp, is used to train Somali federal government forces, and has been bombed several times by the Al-Shabaab group.

Meanwhile, local media reports that an official statement was released from the Al-Shabaab group who claimed the explosion, which they described as a “successful operation” carried out by a fighter belonging to the group.
