National Consultative Council convenes on election grievances

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble tonight chaired a virtual meeting with the National Consultative Council focusing on electoral transparency and process.

The Prime Minister urged the leaders of the Consultative Assembly on the need to ensure that the elections are transparent and credible.

Prime Minister Roble also conveyed of the concerns and grievances related to the election of some seats in the House of Representatives, according to a statement from Roble’s office.

“The prime minister thanked the states for initiating the parliamentary elections and called on the remaining parties to do so as soon as possible,” the statement said.

According to the office of the Prime Minister, during the meeting, the State Presidents of Puntland, Jubaland and HirShabelle announced that they will begin the election of members of the 11th Parliament in the coming days.

Prime Minister Roble met yesterday with the Council of Candidates, who say they are deeply concerned about the looting of seats in some regions of the country,
