OPINION: Outgoing Farmajo finally scratches his exit card
2 min read
Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo appears to have inadvertently scratched his exit card after a period of provocations.
At the end of his term, Farmajo began to form an illegal extension that could have plunged the country into a new war, for which he later withdrew.
Since then, Farmajo has launched a political campaign against Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, who has been tasked with pulling the country out of the transition, and in charge of elections and security.
Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo’s growing provocation eventually led to Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble being prevented from going to his office, after he was issued with an illegal resignation letter.
Farmajo’s subsequent reckless actions, most recently his use of military force in the prime minister’s office, are believed to be wrong steps in the wrong direction.
Farmajo, who believes he can run the country with military force, is currently facing the heaviest challenge since the end of his term, and a new campaign against his will has begun, which revived the National Salvation Army who forced him to withdraw from the illegal extension he had made.
According to our sources, the National Security Forces against Farmaajo’s extension will not leave this time until the former president is ousted from Villa Somalia.
Political analysts say Farmajo has failed in the current crisis, as he has recklessly scratched his last card, with his actions and statements now ignored with no weight of authority.
However, in the last few hours, National Security Forces who are adamant to see farmaajo leave the state house have arrived in Mogadishu and are currently located not far from Villa Somalia, where the outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo resides.
