Parliamentary elections are set to begin today in Baidoa, the interim capital of the South West state, according to the state election commission.
Three seats will be up for grabs in Baidoa today.
The seats are currently vacated by some of the former MPs, and the election of the new parliament has become a foregone conclusion as most of the seats are reportedly closed for a few.
The Galmudug administration is also set to elect one member of parliament today as some of the candidates for the seats have said they have been arrested and denied a certificate of candidacy.
Somalia’s elections is currently being marred by intimidations, arrests and looting of seats, according to political analysts, opposition and clan elders.
