The President of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation arrived today in the city of Baidoa, the temporary capital of the South West state.
President Hassan Sheikh and his delegation are participating in the meeting of consultation and reconciliation in South West State, which is expected to be officially opened tomorrow in the city of Baidoa.
A statement from Villa Somalia also said that the president went to Baidoa to confirm an agreement in the State to find a final solution which is expected to be reached at the reconciliation forum tomorrow on the political crisis caused by the term extension of South West State president Abdiazziz Hassan Mohamed ‘Laftagaren’.
The President, on his part, praised the proposal made by the Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Adan Madobe), to ensure an agreement in the South West, and to strengthen the unity and solidarity of the people.
While Hassan Sheikh is in the South West, he will focus on speeding up the liberation of the administration’s areas, where the terrorists are still harassing communities, plotting massacres and insecurity.
General security in Baidoa has been tightened, with the Ethiopian troops who are part of the ATMIS operation securing the city along with the South West State troops.
Also in Badioa is the speaker of Federal Parliament, Sheikh Adan Madobe, who yesterday inspected the conference center and the guest accommodations.
Sheikh Adan Madobe, who laid the groundwork for the meeting, was in the transitional capital of the South West for the last few days to prepare for the meeting.
The South West is currently facing a very difficult political situation, which is between the state presidency and the opposition members based in Mogadishu, with the tension worsened after a conflict that arose last week.
