PM Roble speaks on the local elections in Puntland1 min read
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble had today congratulated the people of Puntland, the leadership of the Puntland State of Somalia and the people of Somalia on the recent local council elections in Qardho, Eyl and Ufeyn.
Residents of the three districts cast their ballots to elect local councils from eight political parties in Puntland.
“It is a historic, exemplary and important step in the process of democratization and decentralization in our country. I hope the election ends peacefully and transparently. “
Government officials and opposition politicians have supported the Puntland administration in holding preliminary local council elections, which began in three Puntland districts.
Puntland, which was established on August 1, 1998, has tried several times to hold elections, but failed, and will from now be renown for setting up local elections in the administration’s districts of Qardho, Eyl and Ufeyn.
