President Farmaajo inaugurates 4th Somali Language Commission Ceremony

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, who attended the inauguration ceremony of the 4th Somali Language Committee, highlighted the importance of refining, preserving and promoting the Somali language and culture, as they are central to the unity and existence of the Somali people.

Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia although his term has expired, spoke at length about the government’s efforts to develop the Somali language, culture and literature.

“The Somali people are characterized by strong language and culture, while many countries in the colonized world have had their language and culture changed. Language is the most precious legacy passed down from generation to generation, and it is a trust that we must preserve and develop. ”

Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo noted that the implementation of the Somali alphabet has taken a lot of effort, mind and money, and urged the Somali Language Commission to continue these efforts and lead the Somali people in the development and use of the Somali language.

“The government has made great efforts to promote language, culture and literature. We have started by renovating the facilities for their implementation and development, including the National Theater which we are in today, and the National Museum, which we have rebuilt. ”

The event, held at the National Theater, was attended by members of the FGS Council of Ministers, parliamentarians, Benadir Regional Deputy Governor Basma Amir Ahmed, Regional Somali Language Academy Chairman Mohamed Dahir Afrah, Academy of Sciences, Arts and Literature Abdikadir Nur Hussein, members of the Fourth Somali Language Committee, Director of the National Poetry and Entertainment Council Poet Abdulkadir Abdi Yusuf and other dignitaries.
