President Hassan Sheikh “Second phase of the fight against Al-Shabaab is beginning”

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who opened the South-West Reconciliation Conference, urged the leaders, intellectuals and leaders of the South-West to maintain governance, peace and unity at the state level.
The president noted that the Somali people are tired of civil conflict, and the past 30 years is a lesson to guide the country towards development and peace.
“The people of the South West, their political leadership, whether they are the opposition or the media, their traditional elders, the youth and all sections of the civil society, we want them to sit together and solve their problems.”
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed his confidence in the results of the talks that opened today in Baidoa and the commitment of all the people of the South West to resolve their political concerns, to speed up the process in liberating the areas where Al-Shabaab are located.
“We have one enemy and that is Al-Shabab. The government has made a plan to liberate the country, the first phase is now complete, and the second phase will be in the South West.”
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called on all Somali youth who are in the Al-Shabaab ideology to return, offering amnesty to each of them who return to their people and country, and the government has prepared a plan for rehabilitation to young people who have “made a mistake” he added.
