The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, has strongly condemned this morning’s suicide attack on Abdiqasim Road in Mogadishu.
Roble first strongly condemned the blast, which injured and killed civilians, including students, who were at the scene.
“I condemn the terrorist attack by Al-Shabaab this morning in Mogadishu that killed and injured civilians, including students,” he said.
He added: “It is a vicious act that is a testament to the indiscriminate use of force by this extremist group.”
The Prime Minister had prayed for the victims and wished speedy recovery to those injured.
“May God have mercy on the dead, may God heal the wounded, and may God grant patience and faith to their families,” he said in a statement.
Reports say that the target of the attack was a UN envoy convoy known as Duguf Security on Abdiqasim Road between Tarabunka and KM4, according to a statement from the Somali Police Force.
However, al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the blast, and claimed to have targeted foreign officers and military trainers.
