Prime Minister Roble meets with his Qatari counterpart

The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia HE Mohamed Hussein Roble who is on an official visit to Doha met with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Roble and Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani discussed issues including the political situation in Somalia and the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

Sources close to the Somali Prime Minister were quoted as saying that the meeting discussed how to resolve the dispute between President Farmajo and Roble and that the Qatari government was playing a mediating role.

The Office of the Prime Minister of Somalia issued a brief statement on the meeting between Prime Minister Roble and the Emir of Qatar saying only that they had discussed strengthening relations between the two countries.

The Qatari government has close ties with President Farmajo and former NISA chief Fahad Yassin, and it is not yet known why the Qatari government has invited the Prime Minister of Somalia, who is currently at loggerheads with outgoing President Farmajo and his chief security advisor Fahad Yasin.
