Prominent peace activist killed in Mogadishu as he leaves a mosque

Hassan Farid, an intellectual living in Daynile district, was wounded by gunmen after noon prayers at a mosque near Aargada in Daynile district.
According to reports, Hassan Farid died of his wounds on route to hospital and the peace activist was attacked in front of a mosque, where he was attending noon prayers.
It is also reported by local sources that the deceased was the individual who had called the adhan noon prayer in the mosque.
The perpetrators fled the scene, and police and security forces arrived at the scene of the shooting, but were unable to apprehend the assailants.
Hassan Farid was a well respected elder in Mogadishu and in the past was a track field runner in national athletics championship.
