Public transport drivers protest in Mogadishu

Drivers of public transport operating in Dharkenley and Wadajir districts of Banadir region have today staged a protest rally in Mogadishu.
Some drivers have strongly opposed the illegal payments they say is being taking from them by federal government forces in Dharkenley and Wadajir districts of Benadir region.
Some of the drivers who spoke to the media said that armed forces have set up roadblocks for vehicles operating in those districts and charged them with illegal fees which they said was extortion.
The demonstrators also indicated that the some of the armed forces sometimes cause harm to the public inside the buses, sometimes confiscating mobile phones and other materials, according to the protesting drivers.
