The Innlandet Court of Appeal in Norway has sentenced a 29-year-old Somali man to life in a psychiatric ward.
The man, whose name has not been released, was found guilty of setting fire to the historic church in Dombås and attempting to burn another church.
The Lillehamar Magistrate’s Court has already sentenced the man to four years and two months in prison.
However, his lawyers appealed the previous ruling, and the case was reconvened.
The court ordered an investigation into the man’s mental health, particularly at the time of the incident.
According to the test, the man’s medical history shows that he has some form of mental illness.
