Sir David Amess: British MP stabbed to death

Conservative MP Sir David Amess has died after being stabbed to death.
Amess, 69, had a face-to-face meeting with voters at Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea, about 64 km from London, when the attack took place.
Sky News in the UK reports that a man with a knife entered the church and then stabbed Sir Davis Amess several times.
Emergency crews tried to save his life by treating him on the church floor until a helicopter arrived to take him to hospital, but he died on the spot after an hour of treatment.
Essex Police, the Leigh-on-Sea County Sheriff’s Office, have issued a statement confirming the arrest of a 25-year-old man suspected of the attack.
Meanwhile, The Dailymail of UK reports that the assassination of MP David Amess is suspected to have been carried out by a 25-year-old man of Somali origin who is currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department.
UK security forces have beefed up security following the assassination of the Conservative MP with the incident creating a security situation in the country.
Sir David Amess was one of the lawmakers who strongly supported the UK’s Brexit campaign on leaving the EU.
He has also repeatedly opposed legislation in support of same-sex marriage rights.
