Somali-Ethiopia region: Resident poisoned by meat; One dead, Thirty others hospitalized

Officials in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia say they are investigating the cause of the poisoning of camel meat on pastoralists in Aware district in Jarar region.

Ahmed Hussein Bidhic, the governor of Jarar region in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia, said all those who ate the meat had suffered complains of a stomach bug and rushed to hospital.

The number of people infected with the meat is estimated at 30, and they are being treated at a hospital in Awaare district.

A woman who was among those who were poisoned by the meat, later died at Awaare Hospital.

People hospitalized are said to be suffering from various illnesses, such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever and others.
