1 min read
Somali government security forces have seized several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport.
Zakariye Haji Mohamud Abdi, a member of the 10th parliament, said six of the drones had been seized by Somali National Security Forces.
The former lawmaker told local media that he planned for the drones to irrigate farms in Puntland and were purchased from Turkey, along with the services of two Turkish engineers who had travelled with the drones.
He added that the seize of the planes was intended to embarrass him as a presidential candidate, adding that he had lodged a complaint with NISA.
The National Intelliegence Security Agency (NISA) officials have not yet released any details about the drones that were allegedly seized at the airport, which was said to be brought to the country by former lawmaker Zakaria Haji Mohamud.
