Somali government forces take over control of several areas

The 9th Battalion and 60th Division of the Somali National Army (SNA),, has today launched a major operation in Hudur, the capital of Bakol region.

The troops conducted military operations in Gomor, Aboore, Banjina and Doonful areas, all under Hudur district.

Authorities in Bakol region and Hudur district took part in the operation, and the forces took control of the areas where the operation was formerly held by members of Al-Shabaab.

Officials from the 9th Battalion of the 60th Division and officials from the Bakool Regional Administration spoke to various sections of the community in the areas where the operation was carried out, asking them to work with the security forces.

Al-Shabaab militants have attacked government and South Western military bases in Hudur on several previous occasions, and military officials said the operation was in response to al-Shabaab attacks.
