Somali government issues statement on rift within Somali Football Federation

The Somali government has intervened in a dispute between Somali Football Federation officials which has reached a tipping point.

The dispute came after members of the Somali Football Federation’s executive committee, including the federation’s secretary general, announced the suspension of Abdiqani Said Arab, the Somali Football Federation’s chairman.

They accused the chairman of abuse of power, corruption and mismanagement despite Abdiqani Said Arab dismissing the dismissal and the allegations against him.

The Minister of Youth and Sports has appointed a committee to resolve the dispute within the Somali Football Federation following a circular issued by his office.
