A statement from the Somali Ministry of Information on Sunday said that the Somali government and its allies carried out an airstrike against Al-Shabab last night near the town of Wasil in Mudug region.
The statement said, “This is another major blow to al-Shabaab. The bombing destroyed a major al-Shabaab stronghold, as Danab and SNA forces approached. “These operations limit al-Shabaab’s ability to kill and terrorize the Somali people.”

This is the third time US drones have bombed Mudug region in 15 days.
Al-Shabaab said it had repulsed the attack and confirmed that it had bases targeted in Qeycad, near Wisil district.
