Somali government says Al-Shabaab members killed in operation

The Somali National Army (SNA), led by Gor-Gor commandos, has launched an operation against Al-Shabaab militants in Mubarak area of ​​Afgoye district in Lower Shabelle region.

Gorgor military officials said the operation killed 25 al-Shabaab fighters and wounded 35 others, although no independent sources have confirmed the claim.

The officials also said that the members killed included a high ranking Al Shabab officer named Fidow, who was the head of security for the militant group in Mubarak area of ​​Shabelle region.

“The operation is still going on and we will continue until we liberate the Lower Shabelle region from Al-Shabaab and we will maintain security in the area,” said a Gorgor military official.

In the Lower Shabelle region, the Somali National Army (SNA) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have been conducting security operations in the region in defeating the terror group Al Shabab.
