Somali government says it has arrested Alshabab’s chief of operations in Lower Shabelle

The Somali National Army (SNA) says it has captured the Al-Shabaab leader in charge of operations in Lower Shabelle region.

Ali Mohamed Aden, known as Seed Xaaris, was arrested during a planned operation by the Somali National Army in Janale district in Lower Shabelle region.

The government did not provide further details on what the arrested officer’s private job was or the nature of the operation.

The Somali government has been waging an offensive against Alshabab in recent days, especially in Galmudug State of Somalia.

The United States has backed the government from the air, firing two rockets at al-Shabab bases in Qeycad near Ba’adweyn.
