Somali PM convenes emergency meeting of northern electoral commissions

Prime Minister Roble convened an emergency meeting of members of the Northern Electoral Commission, which is at loggerheads with each other, and is also led by two elected commissioners.
A letter from the office of the Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister Abdihakin Hassan Ashkir submitted the request for this meeting.
“The office of the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia invites you to attend an important meeting convened by the Prime Minister at his office at 11:00 AM,” the statement said from Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister Roble Abdihakin Ashkir.
Meanwhile, government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Maalimuu told the media that Prime Minister Roble had today concluded his consultations with Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi and Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled, who have been at loggerheads for some time with there dispute over the Northern Electoral Commission.
“Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, considering that the election of the Upper House seats in the northern regions will begin soon, has decided to give the go ahead with the election, and the Prime Minister will convene an emergency meeting tomorrow. with the SEIT Northern Electoral Commission, ”said Maalimuu.
