Somali police release information on busted people smuggling ring & murder of young woman

The Somali Police Force Command spokesman Sadiq Adan Ali has spoken to the media with further details today to report on the latest updates on two incidents that had recently took place in the capital Mogadishu.

The spokesman spoke about two cases where in one, arrests were made on smugglers for recruiting youths to be taken abroad and a update on the case of a girl whose body was recently found on the southern outskirts of Mogadishu.

On the first case, the spokesman said that on June 8, the Somali Police Criminal Investigation Department arrested 27 people accused of smuggling Somali youths out of the country and with the reasons and their final destination still a mystery according to the spokesman.

Twenty-three of them were women, and the spokesman said all the young people being trafficked did not know their whereabouts when questioned, and called on Somali parents to be aware of their children.

Meanwhile, police spokesman Sadiq Aden said that the body of Asha Mohamed Abdiaziz, a 20-year-old mother, was found last night in Galmudug’s neighborhood of Dharkenley district, Mogadishu.

He said no arrests have been made so far in the case of the murdered woman, and they are conducting intensive investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
