Somali President appoints new governor of Banadir Region

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, appointed Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madale) as the Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu for the second time.
A statement from Villa Somalia said that the president made this decision referring to the proposal of the Ministry of Interior, Federation and Reconciliation.
“The President has based this appointment on the knowledge and work experience of Governor Yusuf Hussein Jimale, who has previously held this position and played a good role in the reconstruction of the capital of Mogadishu and the overall development of Banadir Region,” the statement from the presidency said.
“President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud instructed Governor Yusuf Jimale to give priority to the stabilization and security plan of the capital, reconciliation, strengthening cooperation between the security agencies and the community of Banadir Region, providing of basic services, all of which are aims for the government.”
President Hassan Sheikh wished the new Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, and prayed that Allah will make this heavy responsibility easier for him, urging all government agencies to work closely with the new Administration of Banadir Region.
“This President’s decree that appointed the new Governor of Banadir Region, the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale, came into effect today, Wednesday, September 7, 2022,” the statement said.
Yusuf Hussein Jimale previously held this position between November 2, 2015 and April 5, 2017, and was also appointed by President Hassan Sheikh during his first term.
