Somali presidential candidate passes away in Mogadishu

General Abdiqadir Ali Diriye (Subhanyo), a well-known member within the Somali army has died in Mogadishu this morning.
At the end of last year, Abdiqadir Ali Diriye had announced his candidacy for the presidency of Somalia in 2021.
General Subhanyo’s relatives said he had died of illness, and Somali government officials offered their condolences.
In recent years, he returned as the Commander-in-Chief of the Somali Correctional Forces, serving in the Federal Government of Somalia.
