Somali government security forces have arrested 10 members of a Al-Shabaab sleeper cell, as announced in a press release issued by the Ministry of Information of Somalia.
“The special forces of the National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA), based on reliable information received from the people of Mogadishu, have carried out a planned operation and arrested 10 conspirators of Al-Shabaab terrorist cell, they also took over three centers where they were hiding, vehicles and weapons in Mogadishu,” the statement said.
In this operation, the forces destroyed a network belonging to Al-Shabaab, which used to organize killings and acts against security, as stated in this statement.
The government news also stated that the members of the operation included fighters who were prepared for planned killings, doctors who were prepared to treat the fighters and a man who was in charge of settling and serving the group.
“The government of Somalia, which is committed to the eradication of terrorism, thanks the Somali people for sharing this information, calls on the youth who have been misled by terrorism to return to their people and surrender to the government,” the statement concluded.
