Somaliland President Receives Delegation From US Congress

The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today received a large delegation from the United States Congress at the State House in Hargeisa.

The President of Somaliland first briefed the members of the delegation on the situation in Somaliland over the past three decades, noting the achievements there, with the cooperation of the people and the government and maintaining peace, development, democracy and elections, as a result of which the international community is watching the transformation of Somaliland into a leading African democracy.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the strengthening of cooperation between Somaliland and the United States, security issues, the development of democracy, stability in the Horn of Africa region and political issues.

For their part, the members of the delegation thanked the President and the people of Somaliland for their warm welcome and hospitality, and pledged to provide a comprehensive report on the progress and democracy in Somaliland to the United States Congress.
