The Somaliland government has said it has nothing to do with the election process in the Somali Federal Government, which is taking place in Mogadishu and the country’s regions.
A statement from the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they are informing the United Nations, the African Union, the European Union and the world at large that Somaliland is an independent state that has nothing to do with the electoral process in Somaliland.
The Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs also warned the Somali administration and politicians against making false claims.
The news from Somaliland, which believes it has seceded from the rest of Somalia, comes at a time when the candidates for the Upper House of the Northern Regions of Somaliland have been announced yesterday.
